North Chianti feels like the Tuscany people imagine before they ever arrive. The roads curve gently through vineyards, cypress trees line the hills, and stone villages appear between olive groves and winery estates. It is close enough to Florence to feel accessible, but once you begin driving into the countryside, the city quickly disappears behind you.
